DakshinaChitra will be celebrating Ugadi Utsav, in the traditional form, from 19th – 27th March 2011.Ugadi Utsav is celebrated on Chaitra Sudda Padyami, the first day of the bright fortnight in the Telugu month of Chaitra.The events happening during Ugadi Utsav are believed to presage the course of events in the entire year.The 9 day Ugadi Utsav festival at DakshinaChitra will showcase the culture of Andhra Pradesh with traditional Kommu Koya – folk dance of Andhra with vibrant costumes, drums and rhythmic performance.The craft shop will also have an array of textiles .Specially designed block printed sarees, Kalamkari and Ikat fabric. Toys and artifacts from Andhra Pradesh will also be on display.In addition, traditional Andhra delicacies will be served at the restaurant at DakshinaChitra.From 19th to 27th March 2011 from 10 am to 6 pm (excluding Tuesdays)At DakshinaChitra, East Coast Road, Muttukadu.
