Part of rocket launcher found on Chennai's Marina beach In what can be called a surprise catch, part of a rocket laucher was found in the shores of the famous Marina Beach in Chennai. The close to 3 kg cone-shaped object was retrieved near the ligh house area in the beach.
Police officials from the Light House police station stated, "It was found just behind the Madras Light House campus and a few hundred metres away from the Light House Police Station." There are also reports that the object was found by fishermen who was fishing in the seas and that the suspicious object was trapped in the nets.
But the police have denied the claims stating that it was found in the sands. Further investigation is on to ascertain how the object surfaced in the Marina beach sands, opposite the state police headquarters.
Initial reports suggest that the object seem to be the tip of a launch vehicle and shaped like a cone. Space department officials have been called to assist in the investigation.
The matter that Marina Beach lies in a strategically senstive location and that there are forces both within and outside the country to wreak havoc through terrorism, only instills more fear among those in the wake of such news emerging.
