Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday allocated over Rs 15 crore towards various initiatives in the police department. The plans announced on Tuesday include creating an additional Armed Reserve police division in Ariyalur district and recruiting more people to the department. The Chief Minister has earmarked Rs 9.32 crore for the construction of barracks at Kamudhi in Ramanathapuram district, which will house 500 personnel, 250 each men and women, said an official press release.
She also sanctioned a 64-member division of armed reserve personnel to the existing three divisions in Ariyalur, besides sanctioning 26 more personnel to the local headquarters and allocated Rs 2.93 crore for the purpose. Jayalalithaa also cleared a proposal to create 558 conservancy staff posts in police stations across the State for their maintenance and allocated Rs 2.75 crore.
