PMK holds protest against TASMAC shops
S Ramadoss led PMK held a State wide demonstration against government owned TASMAC liquor shops. Huge number of police personnel were posted in front of wine shops to prevent any untoward incident. According to Ramadoss, the government should hold a referendum on whether or not to close Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) retail outlets run by the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC).
Last week, while addressing a public meeting to explain the reasons for State-wide agitation of locking TASMAC shops, demanding their closure, Ramadoss said if a referendum were to be conducted, he was sure that 95 per cent would opt for the closure of the shops.
