Sri Lankan parliamentarian Somasuntharam Senathiraja met DMK president M Karunanidhi in Chennai on Sunday and discussed the themes of the Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO) conference, which will be held in Chennai on August 12.
The meeting between Senathiraja and Karunanidhi took place at the latter's residence at Gopalapuram in Chennai. It lasted for an hour. Senathiraja is the general secretary of The Ilankai Thamizh Arasu Katchi, which is the chief constituent party of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).
The Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO), a forum started by Karunanidhi, recently urged the Indian government to join hands with like-minded nations to bring political and economic pressure directly and indirectly on the Sri Lankan government to ensure justice and rehabilitation of Tamils in the country.
The theme-paper for the TESO conference to be held on August 12 also wanted India to take the lead in creating a “group of nations” to empower Tamils and ensure the settlement of land claims and foster traditional livelihoods.
