Any young actress would think twice before taking up a mother's role onscreen, that too if she is to play mom to an actor who is almost her age. However, award-winning actress Mallika, who plays Asif Ali's mom in Madhupal's Ozhimuri, says she didn't have second thoughts about the role because it was worth it. "I never feared that I will be typecast for doing such a mature role. I portray a character whose life is shown between 25 and 55 years.
Unfortunately, the fact that I play Asif's mom is what got highlighted the most," says the actress, who can heave a sigh of relief now, as she will next be seen in an offbeat movie opposite Asif. "Yes, in my next outing in Mollywood, I play the female lead opposite Asif. It is a role where there is a lot of scope for performance," says Mallika. Post her award-winning movie Byari, Mallika says she is getting many offers from Tamil and Kannada as well.
"My last outing in Tamil was the 2008 film Thotta. Since then, I have been busy with several projects in Malayalam and Kannada," says Mallika. Her next film in Tamil is a yet-to-be-titled one opposite actor Snehan. "It is too early to talk about my character in the movie since we start shoot only in September. I also have a Kannada film in the pipeline," she says.
