Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa ordered to construct indoor stadiums in five districts of Tamil Nadu, at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore each. She has alloted Rs 7.50 crore for the purpose. An official press release said the government led by Jayalalithaa has been implementing various measures to encourage sports talent among the youngsters of the State. "To facilitate training for various competitions and to conduct sports activities, the Chief Minister has already ordered construction of indoor stadiums in 20 districts, at a cost of Rs 30 crore," it said.
"Last year, Jayalalithaa ordered to construct stadiums at Sri Rangam, Coimbatore, Villupuram, Kancheepuram and Ariyalur in the first phase". In the second phase, the Chief Minister has allocated Rs 7.50 crore to construct stadia in Tuticorin, Nagercoil, Thanjavur, Dindigul and Madurai, which will be equipped with modern facilities including floodlights.
