High Court Orders Against Rahul Gandhi Over Citizenship Claims Are Surprising

Ashok Gehlot has reacted strongly to a recent order by the Allahabad High Court. The court had directed that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed against Rahul Gandhi in a case related to alleged dual citizenship.

Gehlot said the court’s decision was surprising and not justified. He argued that the allegations about Rahul Gandhi having British citizenship are baseless and should not require an investigation.

He also said that the court’s order puts unnecessary pressure on the executive branch, which is responsible for carrying out such investigations.

Gehlot pointed out that similar petitions had already been dismissed earlier. He said the Allahabad High Court had rejected such claims in 2019, and even the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India had not supported them.

Because of this, Gehlot questioned why the issue has been raised again now. He described the decision as difficult to understand and said it goes against earlier rulings.

Overall, his comments add to the ongoing political debate around the case, with different leaders expressing strong and opposing views.
