*October 26, 2022, Hyderabad*: Project 511, an initiative of Hyderabad Round Table 8 (HRT8) today announced the 8th edition of “Food for Change”, a black – tie charity gala at a conference held at Hotel Marigold, Hyderabad. This year’s Food for Change charity gala will be held on October 29th, at JRC Convention.

Hyderabad Round Table 8 organises this unique gala as a fundraiser for Project 511 which is working towards providing quality educational facilities and education-related skill enhancement initiatives in 1,311 Government schools in Hyderabad surrounding districts.

Food For Change (FFC)

FFC has been a tremendous success in its last 7 editions, where few of the best & leading star hotels in Hyderabad come together and host a sumptuous feast. 800 well-known top industrialists, high ranking bureaucrats, corporate CXO’s and high net worth guests of Hyderabad's elite attend FFC, contributing significantly to the cause. Celebrities who have attended the event in the past include VVS Laxman, Pullela Gopichand, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Rakul Preet Singh, Rashmika Mandhana and Allu Arjun.

Speaking on Food For Change, *Mr. Vishal Jain, Chairman, Hyderabad Round Table 8* said, “Food For Change is the primary fundraiser through which we raise funds to execute the programs of Project 511. Bringing together all our partners, donors, associates, volunteers and Round Tablers on a night of giving, really energises us and we hope to touch lives of many more children year after year.”

*Mr. Vivek Chandrashekhar, Governing Council, Project 511* comments, “We look forward to raising funds that would support Project 511 activities where we focus in improving the infrastructure and competency levels at Government schools. In addition to our on-going programs like Blackboards, Toilets, Science Labs, Teaching & Learning materials, we have introduced a digital learning program in 30 schools. The funds raised at this event would primarily be focussed on providing seating and rolling out digital learning classrooms in more schools”

*Mr. Challa Srishant, Managing Director of Continental Coffee* said, "Education is a powerful tool by which economically and socially marginalised adults and children can lift themselves out of poverty and participate fully as citizens. We are delighted to be on board and are happy to associate our brand with Project 511 once again this year, for playing a crucial role in bridging the gap between private and Government schools by providing quality education to underprivileged children."

Project 511

Hyderabad Round Table 8 came together with the MV Foundation in the year 2003 to provide basic infrastructural aid to the then 511 government schools existing in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, thus giving birth to an initiative named Project 511. Since its inception, Project 511 has grown by leaps and bounds and is currently working with 1311 schools in 13 districts across the state including Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, Medchal and Medak districts amongst others. Cumulatively, it has touched the lives of more than 200,000 children in the last 19 years.

The lack of basic and good quality physical infrastructure in government schools is one of the primary reasons for the high dropout rates of students. Project 511 has hence largely focussed on providing basic facilities like Blackboards, Sanitation, Seating, Science labs and Teaching and Learning Material. In recent years, Project 511 has begun to focus on competency-building through its English learning program and Digital classrooms.

Below is a quick snapshot / summary of our contribution over the years.

- 142 classrooms built

- 29,902 Desks delivered

- 309 science labs provided

- 718 TLM (Teaching & Learning Materials) kits provided

- 676 Toilet Blocks built

- 6,847 Black boards delivered

- 30 classrooms across 17 schools equipped with Digital learning capability

Project 511 works closely with the Govt. and donors to generate, mobilise and disburse funds and materials to improve the quality of education for disadvantaged children in Government schools, encouraging them to stay in school, complete their education and compete on a level playing ground with the privileged children going to private and international schools.
