New Delhi, July 19, 2024 - The Circle: Founders Club (The Circle FC) recently organised the first Indo-Korean Startup Community Meetup, at the Embassy of India in Seoul, attended by over 80 participants including 50+ founders, investors, academia, government officials, media, and industry experts. The Circle FC team also met and engaged in a discussion with H.E. Mr. Amit Kumar, the Ambassador of India to South Korea on steps to strengthen India-Korea startup cooperation
This initiative aims to bolster collaboration and innovation between the Indian and Korean entrepreneurial ecosystems by facilitating easier access to respective markets and ecosystems, removing barriers and creating seamless pathways for collaboration.
The event began with a warm welcome and an insightful speech by Mr. Nishi Kant Singh, the Deputy Chief of Mission of India in South Korea, who highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the Indian government to support startups. Following this, Aram Han from the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED) introduced the global K-Startup Center (KSC) program, for which the Circle FC has been the India partner since 2022. The event was hosted by Nemesisa Ujjain, Head of The Circle FC, who shared insights on the market opportunities in India, the fast-growing startup ecosystem and the work being done by The Circle FC in fostering the Indo-Korean startup community.
One of the highlights of the evening was welcoming the startup cohort of KSC India 2024, who had the opportunity to meet and interact with alumni startups from KSC 2022 and KSC 2023. The attendees bonded over Indian snacks and chai, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and community building.
"We are grateful to all the attendees who made this event truly memorable. Our commitment at The Circle FC is to continue building bridges that connect entrepreneurs, investors, and experts, enabling them to collaborate on new projects and drive forward the future of technology and business. We look forward to hosting many more such events that foster connections and drive excellence across borders." Nemesisa Ujjain, VP & Head of The Circle FC.
A special mention goes to the Embassy of India in Korea, particularly Ananya Agarwal (Head of Chancery/First Secretary), for their support and hospitality, which played a crucial role in the event's success. Simsan Ventures and Unicorn Incubator are the other key partners working on this initiative to strengthen the ties between the innovation ecosystems of the two countries.
KSC is a startup support program initiated by the Korea Institute of Startups & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED) under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Government of South Korea.
