East Zone Wins Duleep Trophy After 14 Years

East Zone ended a 14-year wait for the Duleep Trophy title by defeating South Zone in the final in Chennai on Thursday. A strong batting performance in the first innings played a major role in helping East Zone take control of the match and eventually secure the championship

East Zone, led by captain Ishan Kishan, produced a huge first-innings total of 708 runs. Kishan was the star of the innings, scoring an impressive 270 runs. His outstanding knock gave East Zone a strong foundation and put South Zone under heavy pressure from the beginning.

Kishan’s innings was one of the key highlights of the final. He played with confidence and helped his team build a massive total. His contribution allowed East Zone’s other batters to play their roles and ensured that the team remained in a dominant position.

South Zone then came out to bat but struggled to match East Zone’s performance. They were eventually bowled out for 336 runs in their first innings. This left them 372 runs behind East Zone, giving the eastern side a huge advantage.

With such a large first-innings lead, East Zone were firmly in control of the match. South Zone needed a much stronger performance to put pressure back on their opponents, but East Zone continued to dominate as the final progressed.

East Zone’s batting strength was again on display in the second innings. Instead of simply trying to protect their lead, the team continued to score runs and increased the pressure on south zone
