Russia’s Vladimir Putin reaffirms support for Iran during talks with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, pledging efforts toward regional peace and stability amid tensions in West Asia, with Moscow backing initiatives.

Vladimir Putin on Monday reaffirmed Moscow’s support for Iran’s efforts to advance peace in West Asia during talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Saint Petersburg. Putin said Russia would continue backing initiatives aimed at strengthening regional stability.

“For our part, we will do everything that serves your interests, the interests of all the people of the region, so that peace can be achieved as soon as possible,” Russian state media RIA Novosti quoted Putin as saying. He also voiced hope that the Iranian people would overcome what he described as a “difficult period” and said he expects peace to prevail. Araghchi, in turn, thanked Russia for its continued support, calling it “firm and unshaken”.
