Rohit Sharma Returns as ‘2.0’ in IPL Showdown
Anil Kumble, a former Indian cricketer, has praised Rohit Sharma’s impressive half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), calling it a return to his powerful “2.0 avatar.” Kumble highlighted how Rohit’s smooth strokeplay, improved fitness, and precise timing made his knock a strong statement for the IPL.
Mumbai Indians broke their 13-season losing streak by defeating KKR with a clinical six-wicket win on Sunday. Rohit Sharma played a key role, scoring 78 runs in just 38 balls, including six fours and sixes. His performance showed he was ready to dominate again, hitting the ball all around the ground against tough bowlers like Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine.
KKR managed to score 220 thanks to half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and a late contribution from Rinku Singh. In response, Mumbai Indians’ Ryan Rickelton and Rohit’s strong innings helped them secure a confident victory. This version of Rohit, Kumble noted, will make life difficult for all IPL teams.
