SRM IST Dominates 5th Finswimming State Championship – Overall Team Champions!
SRM IST Tamil Nadu Emerges Overall Champions at the 5th Finswimming State Championship at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu on August 23, 2025
SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST), Tamil Nadu, made a resounding mark at the 5th Finswimming State Championship 2025, held in Thoothukudi on August 23, by clinching the title of Overall Team Champions. The team delivered an exceptional performance, bagging multiple medals and setting new national and meet records across various categories.
Among the standout performers was Pavithrasree S.D, a first-year B.Sc. Physical Education student, who secured five gold medals in 50m Bifins, 50m Surface, 100m Surface, 200m Surface, and the 4x100 Mixed Relay. Her stellar performance earned her the Individual Championship in the women’s category.
A. Sabari Girisan (I Year, B.Sc. Computer Science) dominated the men’s bifin events with three gold medals in 50m, 100m, and 200m Bifin, setting a new National Record in the 50m Bifin, and was named Individual Champion.
M. Archana (II Year, B.Tech Biotechnology) also claimed the Individual Championship in the women's division, winning gold in 50m Apnea, 50m Surface, 100m Bifin, 200m Bifin, and the 4x100 Mixed Relay.
Gurulal R.V (I Year, B.Sc. Defence & Strategic Studies) emerged as another Individual Champion, earning gold in the 50m and 100m Bifin events, along with two silver medals in 50m Apnea and Surface.
Record-breaking performances came from K. Saran (I Year, B.Com General), who set National Records in 50m Apnea and 50m Surface, along with a Best Meet Record in 100m Surface.
In addition, Jayasurya K (II Year, MBA) made his mark with golds in 200m Bifin, 4x100 Bifin Relay, and Mixed Relay, complemented by silver and bronze in shorter bifin and apnea events. Other key contributors included Dhanvanth A (Gold – 4x100 Mixed Relay), Anantha Kannan K (Gold – 4x100 Bifin Relay), Monish Kumar T (Gold – 400m, 800m Bifin & 4x100 Bifin Relay), and Ghritakesh K (Silver – 200m Bifin, Bronze – 800m Bifin).
SRM IST's swimmers not only dominated the podium but also showcased the institution’s commitment to sporting excellence, discipline, and talent development. Their success at the State Championship adds yet another milestone to SRM IST’s distinguished legacy in competitive sports.
