Strike three: Original Modern Classic Jawa 42 completes All-Stars range along with 42 FJ and 42 Bobber, ushering in festive season

Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles unveiled the Jawa 42, completing the brand's new Jawa All Stars chapter and marking the biggest evolution yet of the motorcycle that established the modern classic category in India.

The All Stars Jawa 42 has becomes bolder, sportier and more muscular with the new stance, proportions, rear section, alloy wheels, side panel and upswept exhaust. The ergonomics enhances agility in the city and on highways. Built around a powerful J-Panther engine, it retains design cues that are unmistakably Jawa.

The All Stars story began with the Jawa rider. They are confident, individualistic, but feel a strong sense of belonging with people who live by the same code that is familiar to communities from defence to sports, where discipline, trust, camaraderie, and respect for the individual coexist with a larger sense of purpose. The Jawa All Stars range with its special insignia gives the shared code a badge of belonging.

While each motorcycle expresses the Jawa spirit in a different way, they are united by the same All Stars code. Strike One, the Jawa 42 FJ brought a contemporary, sporty expression to the brand’s modern classic character. Strike Two saw Anand Mahindra unveil the All Stars 42 Bobber at the Global Chess League, celebrating individuality through one of Jawa’s most distinctive motorcycle formats. Strike Three brings its flagship: An evolved Jawa 42 with over 60 enhancements.

The Jawa 42 started the brand’s modern-day journey, with India’s first modern classic range, a distinctive off-centre instrument panel, and colourways that broke the clutter in 2018. As the All Stars 42, the flagship Jawa motorcycle has evolved significantly for India’s new generation of riders.

Anupam Thareja, Co-founder, Classic Legends, said, “The most interesting communities are built by people who share a way of conducting themselves even when there is no audience. That is what we have come to understand about the Jawa rider. The codes of character, conduct and courage we see in places as different as defence and sports. We live by it by launching new formats for rider needs, motorcycles with a distinct design, and recognising those who live by these codes every day. The Jawa 42 helped launch India’s modern classic category. The All Stars 42 carries that same instinct forward, not by abandoning what made the Jawa 42, but by asking what it should mean to the rider of today.”

The Jawa All Stars 42 has been designed around greater road presence, with a wider and more muscular stance. The rear section has been substantially reworked, with a wider rear fender and a new 150/70-17 rear tyre, giving the motorcycle a broader footprint. The 790-mm-high sculpted seat has been redesigned with enhanced cushioning, while retaining the characteristic flat, bench-like profile of the Jawa 42.

The motorcycle also gets a new, contemporary alloy wheel design and a more compact upswept exhaust for more resilient water-wading. Its reworked side panels, footpegs, and rear section create a form that is tighter, with cleaner, flowing lines for a sporty, bold stance.

The Jawa 42 is powered by a 294.72 cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled DOHC engine, paired with a six-speed constant-mesh gearbox. Dual-channel ABS works with 280 mm front and 240 mm rear discs.

The engineering changes extend beyond the visible design. The motorcycle has been worked on for mass, frame, and swingarm stiffness, ergonomics, handling and comfort, with a focus on making the evolved 42 more agile and controlled without losing the approachable character that has defined it. The evolution remains recognisably Jawa. The signature 13.2-litre tank continues, as does the round headlamp and the characteristic bench seat, evoking the familiar Jawa character.

That balance is central to the All-Stars philosophy. The 42 Bobber represents the individualist. The 42 FJ brings a more contemporary and sportier expression of the neo-classic Jawa. The new 42 is the flagship carrying forward the evolution of the 42 and bringing the three expressions together under one identity of All Stars.
