Recently, Red Ribbon Club (RRC) in SRM IST is felicitated as one the best RRCs in Tamilnadu by the National AIDS Control Organization, Ministry of Health and family welfare, Government of India.
Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a voluntary on campus intervention is being implemented in the higher Educational institutions, aiming at heightening their risk perception and preventing HIV as well as promoting voluntary blood donation among youth between the age of 17-25 yrs with Department of Higher Education, technical support from TANSACS. 
National AIDS control organization, Ministry of Health and family welfare, Government of India organizes various awareness programs on controlling HIV/AIDS, usage of drug and alcoholic products. These programs are implemented through various red ribbon clubs functioning at the collegiate and university educational institutions. 
In this regard, RRC functioning at SRM Institute of Science and Technology is awarded as one of the best RRCs in Tamilnadu for organizing various awareness programs, human chain, rallies in and around the campus including villages on poster competitions, slogan competitions, debate, painting competitions on the controlling HIV/AIDS and the usage of drugs and alcoholic products and awareness program inviting experts in the field.

Rajasekaran, NSS and RRC Coordinator, for the efforts taken to achieve this national level recognition and the good will to the institution.
