The Directorate of Sports and the Department of Yoga at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, successfully organized a Yoga Practical Session from 07:00 AM to 07:45 AM on 04 May 2026 as part of the countdown celebration for International Day of Yoga 2026 (48 Days to Go....).

The practical session was inaugurated by Dr. K. S. Lakshmi, Director of Admissions, SRMIST. The session was streamed live, with around 350 students actively participating and benefiting from the rejuvenating experience of yoga in the early morning.

Following this, a three-hour Yoga Seminar (10:00 AM to 01:00 PM) was conducted and inaugurated by Dr. S. Albert Antony Raj, Professor & Deputy Dean, FSH, SRM IST. The seminar featured eminent speakers including Dr. V. Duraisami, Professor & Head, Department of Yoga, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University; Mrs. T. Valli, SKY Yoga Professor & Founder-Director, Easy Yoga Studioz; and Ms. Samudra B, HR Motivational Speaker and Personality Development Coach. The speakers emphasized the importance of yoga in achieving personal well-being and professional excellence.

The event created significant awareness among students, encouraging them to strengthen both mind and body for a healthier lifestyle. The programme was successfully conducted under the leadership of Dr. R. Mohanakrishnan, Director of Sports, and lunch was provided to all participants.

As part of the “48 Days to Go” celebration, this initiative aligns with the “100 Days – 100 Institutions” campaign organized in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga and the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

The organizers also announced that the 12th International Yoga Day will be celebrated on 21 June 2026 with participation from leading yoga gurus across the country.
