TANKER Foundation is happy to announce that our Founder Trustee, Dr. Georgi Abraham, a world-renowned nephrologist, has been honoured with the prestigious Karl D. Nolph Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of nephrology on 27th February 2026 at the 46th Annual Dialysis Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Dr. Georgi Abraham also pioneered Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) in India. He was instrumental in introducing and establishing CAPD in the country during the early 1990s, making life-saving dialysis treatment more accessible and affordable for patients suffering from kidney failure.His tireless dedication to advancing renal care, patient advocacy, and innovation in dialysis has significantly transformed kidney treatment practices in India. This international recognition is a heart warming moment for TANKER Foundation and the entire nephrology community.

Tamilnad Kidney Research (TANKER) Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable trust established in June 1993 by Dr. Georgi Abraham (Founder), Latha A. Kumaraswami (Managing Trustee), Suresh Balaje (Chairman), and other like-minded individuals. The Foundation was established with the primary mission of providing subsidized dialysis and financial assistance for kidney transplantation, medications, and diagnostic investigations for underprivileged patients suffering from kidney disease. TANKER currently runs 15 dialysis units — 10 in Chennai and one each in Madurai, Vellore, Tiruppur, Dindigul and Coimbatore.
