AINU Chennai Launches "Thanni Kudi" Initiative: Conducts Mega Free Kidney Health Screening Camp

In response to rising summer temperatures and the escalating risks of renal ailments, the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), recognized as the leading Nephrology & Urology Hospital in India, has officially launched its public health awareness initiative, "Thanni Kudi". As a major campaign activity, a Mega Free Kidney Health Screening Camp was held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at its Chennai, Nungambakkam facility.

Over 150 individuals benefited from the expert medical screening conducted during the camp.

The "Thanni Kudi" or "Drink Water" initiative focuses on informing the general public about the significance of proper hydration in keeping the kidneys healthy and preventing kidney stone formation during the summer season.

In order to motivate people to take initiative for their kidney, the hospital had provided a complete Free Kidney Health Screening Package worth ₹3,500. This package includes vital diagnostics such as Serum Creatinine, Urine Analysis, Blood Urea, Ultrasound Screening, Random Blood Sugar and a professional consultation with an expert Urologist or Nephrologist.

Furthermore, any participant who needs treatment can avail themselves of discounts up to 25% on stone treatments. Residents can secure their appointments by calling 044 6965 6767 or by visiting the official website at www.ainuindia.org.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. B Arun Kumar, Senior Consultant Urologist at AINU Chennai, said, “The peak summer secretly influences an increase in acute kidney stress and may cause painful kidney stone formation. They can be primarily due to chronic dehydration. Through our campaign, "Thanni Kudi," we hope to reach people’s minds that adequate hydration with a regular 8 glasses of water daily can protect the body’s renal filtering system and shield kidney stones. With a comprehensive free screening camp, we can access the health of our kidneys, know how to safeguard their health and identify silent crystal accumulation.”

AINU has a privileged reputation for its expertise with the team of experts from urology and nephrology having performed more than 20,000 stone surgeries. The center focuses on minimally invasive treatment methods with a particular emphasis on non-surgical approaches backed by government employee insurance plans.
