FLY91 Touches Down at Navi Mumbai International Airport with Ceremonial Flight
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) marked another milestone in the expansion of its domestic network with the arrival of a ceremonial flight operated by Goa-headquartered regional airline FLY91. The flight arrived from Hyderabad, marking FLY91’s first touchdown at NMIA, and was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute.
The new services will add direct links between Navi Mumbai and destinations across Maharashtra, the west coast and the Lakshadweep Islands, giving passengers more options for leisure, business and regional travel. The routes also strengthen NMIA’s links with emerging domestic markets and reinforce its role as a gateway for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
FLY91 will make Navi Mumbai its 14th destination and fifth in Maharashtra, with scheduled services connecting the airport to Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Goa (GOX) and Agatti in the Lakshadweep Islands as part of its winter schedule.
Subhash Murikenchery, CAO, Navi Mumbai International Airport, said, “The arrival of FLY91 is an important addition to Navi Mumbai International Airport’s growing airline network. The four destinations it will connect us with have strong relevance for leisure, tourism and regional business travel. As we continue to expand our network, our focus is on creating meaningful connections that make Navi Mumbai a convenient gateway for passengers across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.”
The airline’s entry into Navi Mumbai comes as FLY91 embarks on a significant expansion of its own. The airline recently placed a firm order for 40 ATR 72-600 aircraft, valued at approximately US$1 billion. With deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2032, the order will support FLY91’s plans to expand its fleet from six to 60 aircraft.
Manoj Chacko, Founder, Managing Director and CEO, FLY91, said, “We are incredibly proud that FLY91’s aircraft has touched down into Navi Mumbai, the gateway to India’s financial capital, for the first time earlier today. Operated by an all-women crew, the ceremonial flight had investors, well-wishers and friends onboard, many of whom have been part of FLY91’s journey from the very start. Two-and-a-half years ago, we started operations with two aircrafts connecting to three destinations. This winter schedule, we will be operating over 350 weekly flights across 14 destinations.”
He added, “Navi Mumbai is an important addition to FLY91’s network. It is our 14th destination and fifth in Maharashtra. We will be connecting the financial capital to emerging markets in western India. FLY91 will operate flights from Navi Mumbai to Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Goa and Agatti. Our focus continues to remain on building a practical regional network that makes air travel more accessible and truly connects Bharat.”
FLY91’s network will now cater to 14 destinations including Goa, Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Solapur, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Agatti, Kochi, Hubballi, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Tirupati, with NMIA as the latest addition.
Navi Mumbai International Airport has crossed the 3.2 million passenger milestone since commencing commercial operations on December 25, 2025, underscoring steady passenger growth and a strong ramp-up in connectivity from India’s newest greenfield international airport.
Launched with 13 destinations, NMIA now connects passengers to around 43 domestic destinations and has handled more than 25,295 commercial flights since the start of operations. The airport’s growing network and operational scale reflect its emerging role as a key aviation gateway for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Western India.
