Kashi Tamil Sangamam-4.0- Writers’ delegation from Tamil Nadu gets grand traditional welcome in Kashi with rhythmic beats of Damru and flower petals
Varanasi, 6 December: The arrival of distinguished visitors from different fields across South India continues in Varanasi as part of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 initiative, celebrating the deep-rooted cultural, educational, and spiritual ties between North and South India. As part of the ongoing initiative, a third delegation, comprising writers from Tamil Nadu, reached Varanasi on Saturday. The delegation received a grand traditional welcome at Banaras Railway Station with the rhythmic beats of Damru, a shower of flower petals, chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Vanakkam Kashi’.
Minister of State for Uttar Pradesh, Shri Anil Rajbhar, along with senior administrative officials, were present during the welcome ceremony at the Banaras Railway station. The visiting writers were briefed by officials on Kashi’s cultural heritage and the historical ties between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi.
The Tamil delegation expressed great delight at the traditional welcome they received at the station. Many members shared that the warmth and spiritual atmosphere of Kashi left an unforgettable impression on them. The rhythmic Damru beats reverberating through the entire station complex created an atmosphere steeped in devotion to Bhagwan Shiva, beautifully reflecting the cultural harmony between Kashi and Tamil Nadu.
As per the programme schedule, the Tamil Nadu delegation will visit the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham on Saturday. Their itinerary also includes a tour of the Ganga’s sacred banks, the iconic Ghats, and the city’s prominent cultural and educational landmarks. Members of the organising committee stated that a series of special programmes have been designed to share the information with guests about Kashi’s heritage, art, culture, spirituality and the traditions that define the soul of the ancient city.
The ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ aims to revive the ancient cultural, religious and educational bonds between Kashi and Tamil Nadu. In its fourth edition, the event brings together representatives from diverse fields, including education, culture, literature, arts and industry, to strengthen the ties between North and South India.
