US Energy Secretary Defends Oil Reserve Release Amid Global Tensions
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright recently defended Washington’s decision to release oil reserves amid the ongoing conflict between Iran and other countries. He explained that the world is facing a temporary disruption, but releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve will help ensure global energy flows in the long run.
The US has announced plans to release around 172 million barrels of oil from its reserve as part of an international effort to stabilize global markets. About 30 countries are working together on this emergency move, which could put approximately 400 million barrels of oil into the global system. This will help offset the disruptions caused by the conflict.
Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil shipping route, have been causing concern for energy markets. The United States currently holds around 415 million barrels of oil in its Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
The Energy Secretary emphasized that releasing oil from the reserve is an important step to ensure global energy security. He believes that this move will help stabilize markets and prevent further disruptions
