Sasikala’s New Party AIPTMMK Enters Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Politics

Former AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala has launched a new political party called All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AIPTMMK) with the symbol ‘Thennathoppu’, which represents unity. The party will contest in the upcoming assembly polls in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Sasikala announced her new party on Friday, nearly three weeks after unveiling its flag. She said that AIPTMMK’s symbol is a coconut grove, which signifies unity among people. She also compared herself to AIADMK leader M G Ramachandran, who started his political career by joining a party founded by one of his supporters.

The AIPTMMK flag features the portraits of former chief ministers C N Annadurai, M G Ramachandran, and J Jayalalithaa at its centre. The colours on the flag are black, white, and red. Sasikala has also announced that her party will function like a joint family, where everyone works together for a common goal.

AIPTMMK plans to contest in both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry assembly polls. Sasikala has also stated that her party will seek alliances with like-minded parties to increase its chances of winning the elections.

Sasikala’s entry into politics is significant as she was a close aide of J Jayalalithaa, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Her new party is likely to have an impact on the political landscape in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
